“Six months, babe. Six months and we’ll be back together again.”
Those were the last words that your boyfriend of 8 months, Louis Tomlinson, said to you before he left on his second tour in America.
Now, five months later, you sat alone in your bedroom, clutching the teddy bear Louis had given you on your birthday. The crippling sobs took ahold of you again, just like every other night. You had thought that it was supposed to be easier, the distance. But it had only gotton much, much harder. You felt like a piece of yourself was missing. Of course, you and Louis had texted, talked on the phone, and skyped as much as either of you could, with your busy schedules, but it still wasn’t enough. You had never felt so alone.
“When I’m losing my control, the city spins around. You’re the only one who knows, you slow it down.”
You jumped as the ringtone you had for Louis on your phone broke the silence. You hesitated for a measly moment and then lunged towards the phone like it was a safety tube.
“H-Hello?” you answered, your voice shaking silently.
“(Y/N)? Are you okay? What’s wrong?” Louis’ deep voice launched into question after question.
You couldn’t help but smile at his obvious concern. You slowly walked backwards until the back of your thighs hit your bed. You let yourself fall back onto it, the phone clutched to your ear.
“I’m okay, Lou, really,” you replied, taking a deep breath to reassure yourself,”I just..I miss you,” you whispered softly into the speaker.
There was a brief pause and then you heard a deep sigh coming from the other end.
“I miss you too,Lauren, so much,” Louis murmured, his voice sounding low and rough.
You ran your fingers over the back of the phone, trying not to lose it as the tears stung your eyes.
“Come back to me,” you whispered, your voice catching as the tears started to stream down your face,”Please, just come back to me.”
You bit down hard on your lower lip as you awaited his response. You knew that what you said was only going to make him feel even worse for leaving, but you couldn’t help yourself. You had to tell him how alone you felt.
You closed your eyes, and sniffled quietly, reaching for a tissue as the silence from the phone drew on. You wiped your nose and your eyes, willing yourself to keep it together.
“Lou?” you whispered softly after a couple of silent minutes.
You heard a deep inhale, and then an exhale through the speaker before a voice radiated through.
“I can’t do this anymore,Lauren,” Louis’ voice shocked you into silence. What?
You felt your heart break at his words. Was he..breaking up with you? Over the phone? Your throat closed and suddenly you couldn’t breathe. No, no, no…
“I can’t be away from you for any longer. I’m coming home.”
Oh. You felt yourself relax completely as a wide grin came across your features.
“Really?” you asked, jumping off of the bed and twirling,”You’re coming home?”
“Yeah, baby, I’m coming home.”
You felt yourself begin to grin like an idiot, your cheeks hurting slightly. You clutched the phone to your heart and skipped over to your dresser, where a framed picture of Louis and his band lay. You brought the photo to your lips, kissing your boyfriend’s image lovingly. You couldn’t believe it. After all of these months, Louis was finally going to come home. You brought the phone back to your ear as you exaimed the picture in your hand. Louis looked so happy in it, his arms around the lads and his aquamarine eyes shining. He was on the stage in it, the only place he loved to be. That was when it hit you. You couldn’t let Louis quit the tour and come home. That would ruin his career. Management wouldn’t allow it, and the boys would have to finish the tour without him.
“No,” you finally said into the phone, feeling your eyes sting again.
“No? But Lauren..” Louis’ despaired voice filled your ears.
“You can’t come home, Louis,” you said firmly, wishing above everything else that you could say the opposite,”You have to stick it out and finish the tour then, and only then, can you come home, okay?”
After what seemed like forever, Louis’ voice responded to you.
“I love you, Louis,” you murmured,”So much.”
“I love you too,Lauren, more than you will ever know.”
You nodded slightly and pulled the phone away from your ear, hitting the red button and ending the call.
You glanced at the calender by your bedside and counted the days. Only 30 more days until Louis came home.
*One Month later*
You were so incredibly excited, you could hardly contain yourself. You had been bouncing around all day, much to hyped up to sit down. Your baby was coming home today.
You tucked your hair back behind your ear as you set the table. You had cooked Louis’ favorite meal in honor of his return. You honestly were a horrible cook, but with the help of Lottie, Louis’ sister, you managed to make something edible.
You dimmed the lights and lit a couple of vanilla-scented candles, wanting it to be as romantic as possible. Once everything was in order, and ready to go, you plopped down on the couch and flipped on the TV, trying to find something to keep your mind busy as you waited for Louis to arrive. You found a cartoon and leaned back, watching it. Now all that was left to do was wait.
After what seemed like an internity, you heard the lock on the front door click before it opened. You were on your feet in an instant.
“Louis!” you screamed, throwing yourself into his arms.
You heard a deep chuckle and heard the ‘clump’ as he dropped his bags to wrap his muscular arms around you.
You didn’t know you were crying until Louis pulled away and looked down at his tear-soaked T-shirt. You blushed and reached up to wipe your face, but his hand caught yours. While looking into your eyes, Louis leaned forward and brushed your tears away with his thumb. His eyes never left yours as he closed the space between you two, softly pressing his lips to yours.
You sighed softly and reached up, wrapping your arms tightly around his neck as you kissed him back.'Lauren I love you more than everything' he said with his deep voice 'I love you too' You said and you kissed him softly.
